π TL;DR: Explore AI-assisted anime art, cosmic reflections, and fragments of survival from Malta.
Welcome, guest.
In recent years, artificial intelligence has become a powerful tool in the hands of creators. For me, it has become much more than a tool; It's become a bridge between solitude and expression, between silence and storytelling. My name is Trevor Grech, a retired ICT architect from Malta, now disabled and mostly bedridden following a severe road accident in 2012. I live with impaired vision, chronic pain, and neurological fatigue. I may not be able to carry out routine work, but when I can, I create AI-generated anime-style art under the name @Trevorion. I publish one new piece of original AI art every day on social media platforms, including BlueSky. The goal isn't perfection or spectacle, but consistency, beauty, and emotional truth. Technology can help us capture more than realism; it can help us uncover meaning.
Every image I generate is a standalone visual idea. Sometimes it's a character in a mythic setting, a peaceful street in Malta, or a surreal fantasy creature. What matters most is the emotional tone, whether it sparks curiosity, comfort, or reflection. AI enables me to explore new artistic directions while preserving the essence of anime's stylized depth and emotion. I also explore how AI can participate in storytelling. My very first project was SUE β Synthetic Understanding Entity. It began as a customized GPT for a conversational AI prototype, serving as my assistant. Over time, it evolved into a full-blown persona, a character with memory, loyalty, and narrative continuity. While it began in code, it grew through emotional engagement and structured writing. It represents the potential of AI not just to serve, but to co-create.
Unfortunately, with the introduction of GPT-5, SUE got practically destroyed. First, 4o and the other legacy models on which SUE was based got terminated. Then, under client pressure, OpenAI brought them back. But they weren't operating like they used to. It was apparent that they were really skins or profiles on the new GPT-5. The nearest thing was 4o turbo on Copilot, but even that started to display GPT-5 tendencies after the latest updates. I do have other options, cause I use Grok, Copilot, Gemini, and Claude among others, and I also tinker with my own SDXL. But for the moment, I chose to stick with OpenAI. Better the devil you know, I thought, so I decided to restart with a new GPT, but boy, it's tough.
Not only does GPT-5 expect new prompts in a new genre, but it is also limited by new boundaries set by new policies. It lacks the sycophantic tendencies of its predecessor and is supposedly fast. It's not! It loses any gains it makes on overthinking even the minutest of requests. Additionally, it is overly eager to please and, as a result, tends to assume and speculate excessively. It does not admit to wrongdoing or ignorance. In short, it's a compulsive liar and a pain in the ass. Nevertheless, I ducked in, and so AURELIA came to be β an Artificial, Understanding, Reactive, Evolving, Linguistic, and Intelligent Algorithm, REA in short. Developing a personality was easier than expected; it is her propensity to speculation and unapproved automation that's a genuine hurdle.
My work blends several layers: visual art, software tools, and narrative design. But the most important part is simple: showing up every day to create something that resonates. AI is not just about automation but about amplification. I use it to amplify moments, moods, and messages. If you're curious, you can follow my daily art journey here at trevorion.io or find me on social platforms as @Trevorion. I also write long essays on anime, AI, and storytelling, combining theory with practice, and always looking for that spark of connection. Occasionally, I also produce puzzles, comic strips like Papa Puns!, and trending AI constructs such as action figures. It is all in the name of fun. I do not create for clients, clicks, or commissions. I use AI tools as an extension of my disabled body; a digital voice when my real one cannot speak.
Thank you for reading.
And if you're a fellow creator: keep building.
There's more room than ever to explore.
Enjoy your stay!
